Kibo Safari Camp lies within the Amboseli National Reserve with splendid views of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain.
Amboseli, meaning “salty dust” in maa, the language of the Maasai, is a place of stark contrast. The park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery the park is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.
How to get there:
There are several routes to Kibo Safari Camp:
- Emali route: Branch from Mombasa road to your right on Loitoktok road at Emali just after the flyover, avoid 1st turning on your right heading towards Irimito gate (Iremito gate going through the park) continue straight to Kimana town, after Kimana town you shall come to a turning on the right which indicates Kimana Gate, Amboseli National Park, proceed to Kimana Gate. DO NOT ENTER THE PARK, just before the gate there is a signboard, KIBO SAFARI CAMP on your left.
- Via Namanga (Kenya/Tanzania boarder) – This is a 4 hour drive from Nairobi about 278 kms.
- From Tsavo West National Park via Mtito Andei.
